Guidance on using this website

Reference viewing parameters

This site has a high degree of similarity in appearance and usablity in the following browser/OS combinations:

  • Firefox (1.5) and Internet Explorer (5.5+) on Windows 2000
  • Firefox (1.5) and Internet Explorer (6.0) on Windows XP
  • Firefox (1.0.7) and Safari (1.2+) on Mac OSX 10

Other browser/OS combinations may not perform equally well. 
The site is optimised for viewing at a screen resolution of 800 x 600 pixels.

Font size

You can change the size of the text on this site using your browser. This can normally be done via the browser's View menu: go to 'View', choose 'text size', and select the appropriate font size, (for example 'larger').  Note that changing the font size will impact page layouts, with potentially adverse effect.


All documents and contents available on this site are indexed.  Additionally we use a key word system to further enhance search result quality.  Each page on this website includes a "quick search" facility at the right in the top menu.  In addition an advanced search form is available as well as the search form for the knowledge area.

Each page on this website includes a clear heading. Any consequent headings are introduced in a structured hierarchy.


We try to ensure that link text makes sense out of context and that it accurately describes the pages to which it points.


Images are described, either in the alt tag or on the page itself.
